This lens is constructed of 12 elements arranged in 10 groups. It also includes an aspherical lens element to prevent chromatic aberration and two elements with a high refractive index. The optical system is also equipped with a system known as "floating" lenses to ensure high quality images at all focusing distances. The lens has several layers of anti-reflective coating (UMC), this improves the general quality and contrast in photographs and videos as well as gives an accurate colour reproduction.

VDSLR Samyang lenses are set up with racks suitable for using the Follow-Focus system. The rings of the diaphragm happen to be jagged, this helps to ensure much improved engagement when using the Follow-Focus system. This coupling system allows effortless rotation and both rings work quietly allowing greater overall control.
